Cake Club

Love baking? Get involved with Southampton’s latest baking evening! No competition, just a chance to eat cake and share the love of baking.

Do you like talking about cake and tasting new recipes? The Sotonettes hold a Cake Club during those months that have five Tuesdays, on the 4th Tuesday of the month. We will be meeting on Zoom for now, but once restrictions allow, we will return to meeting in Above Bar Church Southampton (the same place as our main monthly meetings).  Our next cake club will be on  – the theme will be announced soon.

The group is a time for people to enjoy baking, it is not a competition, but an opportunity to share ideas and try new ideas.

Our Cake Club ‘rules’:
• Interpretation of the theme is as wide as your imagination!
• Please share your cake and take home slices from others!
• You may share your recipe but acknowledge if it’s published
• The venue will change each meeting so keep in touch

A theme is chosen for each meeting and this is open to the widest interpretation, the theme might suggest ingredients, decoration or something totally original.  We unusually have whole cakes unless the theme suggests otherwise.  We have a tasting session at the meeting and then participants take home a selection.

We have had themes such as ‘Signs of Spring’, ‘the Great Outdoors’,’the Olympics’, ‘Celebration Cakes’,  ‘Free From’ and ‘Savoury Bakes’.  We held decorating workshop and had a sugarcraft demonstration as part of out 5th Birthday celebrations.

The Cake Club is great fun and has inspired people to experiment with new recipes and ideas

Details of venues, dates and themes for future meetings can found on this website and on our Facebook page (check out the the ‘Events” section).

The meetings are free to Sotonettes members, non-bakers and visitors are welcome subject to a fee of £3, the proceeds of which will be donated to our nominated charity.
