Thinking of joining the WI?  You are very welcome to come along to a meeting to find out more about us and you don’t have to be a member to participate – attending as a visitor costs £5 per meeting. Alternatively, you can join the WI for a whole year (1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025) for only £48, (there is a pro rata rate if you join during the membership year and are new to the WI or haven’t been a member in the past year) Any questions? Please email sotonettes@gmail.com

You may visit us three times before joining – if you join on the same night as visiting, we’ll even refund your visitor fee!

If you are a current member of another WI, just bring along your membership card and it’ll only cost £3 to visit us.

The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities. Have a look at the National WI website here.

Modern WIs are uniting women across the country, mixing traditional WI principles with a focus on topics and interests of their members. It’s not all Jam and Jerusalem!

Our meetings are a place where women of all ages from the local community can share interests and learn new skills, and, most importantly enjoy themselves.

The Sotonettes WI usually meets on the last Tuesday of the month, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, in central Southampton. On occasion, we may meet on a different date or use a different venue but this will be well advertised in advance.  Each meeting is different and we have a range of things lined up. We may be learning a new craft or skill, having a speaker come in to talk about a topic or focusing on a campaign issue.
