The calendar has 12 detachable postcards, handy for sending a quick note to friends and family!

You can order yours for £3.70 at the next main Sotonettes meeting (Tuesday 29 September) where the sample copy will also be on display, or drop us a message and we’ll add your name to the order!

Any surplus raised from calendar sales will be allocated to the General Funds of Hampshire WI.

Planning Ahead: New Year Country House Party at Denman

It’s quite early to start thinking about Christmas, but the WI is not to be sniffed at when it comes to forward planning! Here’s a recent posting we received from Denman about this most festive of occasions…

Celebrate a wonderful centenary year by joining us for the traditional Denman New Year House Party on the 30 December 2015 to 2 January 2016. Visit our Georgian manor house and seventeen acres of parkland for three nights of pure indulgence and get the chance to chat with like-minded people about all the centennial antics you’ve experienced during 2015.

The price of £519 for WI members and £549 for non-members includes plenty of workshops so you can learn new skills, a wide variety of entertainment, such as a band, a seasonal quiz and a visit to the local pantomime, and all of your meals, with an extra special celebration dinner on New Year’s Eve. It certainly is not to be missed!

Visit www.denmancollege.org.uk for more information and to book.

Planning ahead: Christmas Lunch at Denman College, Oxfordshire

It’s never too early to start planning for Christmas (if you believe what the shops tell you, anyway), and the WI is no different. The Sotonettes have already had the annual missive from Denman about Christmas festivities, and we’re pleased to pass this information on to you…

The WI’s Denman College in Oxfordshire will be holding Christmas lunch on Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 December this year. With a roaring open fire and the manor house decorated for Christmas, Denman is a wonderful place to gather with friends or colleagues for a special meal. There will be mulled wine or non alcoholic cranberry punch on arrival, and a glass of wine with lunch is included. A vegetarian option is available.

Tickets are £30 for WI members and £35 for non-members; you should book early to avoid disappointment. For more information, please contact Katie Bell, Events and Marketing Assistant, on k.bell@denman.org.uk or 01865 391 991 ext. 240.

Calling all budding Sotonettes craft teachers!

We’ve been contacted by the Hampshire Federation on behalf of Creative Arts, who are looking for craft teachers to exhibit at their Craft Selection Day on October 10th 2015 in Weyhill, Andover.

The day will be a great opportunity for craft teachers to spread their talents and skills throughout the WI in Hampshire. There will be lots of people coming on the day, looking for ideas for next year or even the year after’s programme.

If you’re crafty and you’d like to find out more, please contact jen.best@hotmail.co.uk for further details. A couple of the Sotonettes committee will also be attending this event as visitors, so we look forward to seeing you there if you have a craft to share!
