Book Club -January 2017

Welcome to the Sotonettes’ Book Club!  Our book for July is Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly You can find more details on the Facebook event page here.

The Sotonettes Book Club meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 7pm – 9pm.  (Except during December).  There is no charge to attend and both members and non-members of the Sotonettes are very welcome. We will be meeting in the Mettricks Guidhall Coffee Shop, 1 Guildhall Place, SO14 7DU

The Book Club has a general ‘female’ theme such as female authors and leading characters, and we are always open to suggestions! We plan on mixing things up a bit, from classics to contemporary, across a range of genres.

We don’t mind if you haven’t finished the book, seen a film version, or are just curious to find out more.

If you have any questions then you can drop a message to Penny via the Sotonettes Facebook group here or email her at

The books we will be reading in 2017 are:

May – The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
June – Longbourn by Jo Baker
July – Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly
August – The Year of Living Danishly by Helen Russell
History of Britain in 21 Women by Jenni Murray
